These rice servers are carved from carved from the wood of of maple, cherry, or plum trees pruned and harvested on my home on Maury Island in Puget Sound, Washington. Wood Rice paddles are on an Asian tradition. Mine are eight to nine inches long. Although they are intended to be used to serve rice, with their beautiful grains, pleasing shapes and smooth, soft texture, they may also serve as objects of art. |
I recommend a quick rinse with warm water and wipe with a paper towel after use. Your rice server comes with a natural oil finish, but if you choose to wash any of your wooden utensils in hot water and a liquid detergent, they may become dried-out and rough. I am frequently asked what to use when this occurs. One of the best things I have found is Badger Unscented Healing Balm. The ingredients are organic extra virgin olive oil, castor oil, and beeswax. It can be found here, or at most grocery outlets in the U.S. |
